About Us
As told by Martina, CEO & Regional Manager
Let me be clear: I was not abandoned. I made a strategic decision to leave.
Puglia is beautiful, of course — the light, the olive trees, the excellent scraps. But I had bigger plans, and my previous family simply could not keep up with my vision. I departed. Professionally.
What followed was an extended period of independent fieldwork. I conducted thorough research across the roads of southern Italy — studying human behaviour, assessing market gaps, building resilience. Some might call it "living on the streets." I prefer unsupervised executive development.
Eventually, a group of volunteers recognised my potential and brought me to a shelter. I appreciated the gesture. The shelter was fine. Adequate. I waited.
I had standards.
Then one day, my current assistant — Martina, the human one — saw my photograph on a Facebook page. She thought she was choosing me. This is, of course, incorrect. I had reviewed her profile thoroughly and determined she met the minimum requirements. Warm apartment. No other dogs. Easily trained. And — this was the detail that sealed it — her name was Martina. Same as mine. I found this extremely funny. She did not fully understand why I kept staring at her on the drive home. I was laughing. I approved her application.
She drove to collect me. I allowed it.
Once settled, I wasted no time. I had been developing a business concept for some time — a gift brand for dog lovers, run with the seriousness and professionalism the industry so clearly lacked. I presented the proposal. My assistant agreed immediately, which confirmed she has reasonable judgement.
We named it Sage & Silly. Sage, for wisdom. Silly, for the humans.
I am the CEO. She handles operations, shipping, and the parts that require opposable thumbs. It is, I will admit, a functional arrangement.
Every product in this shop has been approved by me. Every decision passes my desk — which is also the sofa, the armchair, and occasionally the kitchen floor. Standards are maintained at all times.
Thank you for shopping with us. I hope you find something worthy of your dog.
They deserve the best. I made sure of it.
